Keys of success

Supporting the development of preventive child welfare in the Republic of Karelia

In addition to preventing social exclusion, this project aims to secure and improve the welfare of children, adolescents and families with children in need of psychosocial support.

The project supports and strengthens the preventive child welfare skills of experts working with children and families. Moreover, the objective is to promote the readiness of independent development operations and thus reduce the need for outside consultation help.

The Petrozavodsk city acts as a pilot area for the project that seeks to develop a district-specific preventive work strategy and model for the work of the commission on minors` affairs.

In addition to development operations, the project provides training on the general principles of child welfare and children’s rights and the principles, models and methods of preventive child welfare.
