International Forum for Child Welfare (IFCW)

WorldForum 9.-12.6.2014 Helsinki, Finland

In the 24th WorldForum, the following topics are discussed:

  • Children’s rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • The Nordic welfare policies and grassroots level practices. In the context of Nordic countries, the traditional welfare model is based on a universal service system and a widely shared value base of equality and social solidarity. It means a system of equal benefits, support and public services for every child and family such as child, family and parental allowances, day care, school and education, health and child protection.
  • Concrete examples of protecting children in vulnerable situations, such as the ban of children’s corporal punishment 30 years ago in Finland and migrant children and families.
