Lobbying is a major part of CUCW's work. Together with its member organisations, the CUCW seeks to give voice to children in society. This is done by lobbying in legislative processes concerning children, decisions made on the use of resources, and on development programmes at home and abroad. To promote the best interests of the child, the CUCW:
- monitors development in the field
- contributes to the preparation of legislation
- submits initiatives and proposals
- issues statements
- organises public meetings and discussions between its members and partners
- participates in public debate
The conferences, seminars and training organised by the CUCW also constitute part of its lobbying, as do its publications, studies and reports and its magazine, Lapsen Maailma (Child’s world).
The key points in lobbying are:
- voicing the perspective of children
- promoting children’s rights
- increasing participation by children
- safeguarding child welfare work
The CUCW is also a member of several expert groups appointed by the authorities and other bodies.
